...but a lot has been going on! I've been working on this space up here in Amesbury and hopefully it'll be ready for all you lovely people to visit this December. Pictures and more information coming soon!
I wanted to take a second out of the impending holiday frenzy to say THANK YOU to all of you: my friends, family, customers, visitors...everyone who has supported me these past ten months as I started this business and have tried to find my footing. I have a long way to go and a lot of plans and things I want to achieve but I honestly wouldn't have these ambitions if it wasn't for all of you. With you behind me I get to look toward the future -- for that I am truly grateful.
I'm sure we're all nearing food/sugar capacity (I certainly am so I can't be alone!) and we'll soon be focusing on our New Years resolutions and detoxes and Whole30s but let's not forget about the events and milestones to celebrate in the upcoming months as well (balance, my friends!).
I look forward to seeing you in the New Year and wish you the happiest of holidays! May you spend them with those whom you love and celebrate blessings, large and small.
As ever, thank you so much.
To all the wonderful people who ordered pies - thank you so much and please don't forget to pick them up today! Pick ups are in Swampscott from 9 am to 12 pm and in Beverly from 1 pm to 5 pm.
Sunday is the last Farmer's Market in Swampscott OF THE YEAR. No wait, that's not true - there will be one more market for Thanksgiving on November 20th - mark your calendars. This Sunday, I believe there will be a costume parade (for children, probably not for you) but it should be cute.
I will have on offer: French Breakfast Puffs, Pumpkin Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies, Giant Oatmeal Cookie Pies, Maple Bacon Scones, and Halloween Hermits Cookies
Come on down!
PS. Keep an eye on your inbox for a forthcoming newsletter regarding pies for Thanksgiving! If you haven't already, please sign up for the newsletter on the main page.
It's a menu and it's just for YOU -- whoever you may be...I'm sure I had you in mind when I came up with it...:
Like Your Momma Used to Make Chocolate Chip Cookies, French Breakfast Puffs, Apple Cake, bundles of Hermits Cookies, and Pumpkin Oat Scones.
I can't believe that we're almost done for the year! Please come on down if you haven't been able to make it yet. :)
And by three, I mean only three more Swampscott Farmer's Markets left! But then we'll be back one last time for the year on November 20th for the Thanksgiving Market. I'll have a holiday pie sign up sheet and other junk before then. Details to follow SOON.
Sunday's menu will be: French Breakfast Puffs, jumbo Ginger Pumpkin Muffins, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies, Apple Cake, and Pumpkin Cream Cheese Fudge Brownies.
Come to the market on Sunday! MHofS will have:
Chocolate Chip Scones (yes, again - but I promise you'll survive especially since I'll make a nice coffee glaze), Marbled Chocolate Pumpkin Bread, Applesauce Bread, French Breakfast Puffs and Apple Pie Spice French Breakfast Puffs (which disappeared in five minutes flat last week!), Nut Brownies, and Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake Squares.
The forecast is predicting light rain for Sunday but hopefully that will change as we get further into the week..? I'm sure Hurricane Matthew is affecting everything so that may be a vain hope...
See you soon!
Hello, everyone! I am back - not quite better than ever - but somewhat on my feet. Who knew crutches were so difficult?!
I'm psyched since the best baking time of the year is upon us which is great news for all you folks. We'll kick off this weekend's farmer's market with some fall flavors:
French Breakfast Puffs (and NEW Apple Pie Spice French Breakfast Puffs), Giant Cocoa and Cinnamon Meringues, Banana Nut Bread, Ginger Pumpkin Muffins, Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats (R. Gerhart's favorite - and for good reason!), and Chocolate Chip Scones.
See you Sunday!
Sorry everybody but the store closure continues! Mia's House of Sweets will be closed until October 1st -- I just need a little more recuperation time. I'll be back at the market on October 1st.
Mia's House of Sweets will be temporarily closed from Friday September 16th until Saturday September 24th. I will NOT be at the Swampscott Farmers Market on Sunday September 18th but will return the following week with lots of goodies.
When I get back, we'll talk about PIE and the holidays and all kinds of baking madness...!
Of the summer, I mean! Nothing morbid. Just a seasonal observation. Anyway...
Menu for Sunday! Lots of favorites...
French Breakfast Puffs, Maple Bacon Scones, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Magic Cookie Bars, Turtle Brownies, Cookies n Cream Brownies, and Berry Jam Bars.
Just a heads up -- and I'll send out a couple reminders as well -- I will NOT be at the market on Sunday September 18th but will return on the 25th.
The menu for Sunday's market will be (drum roll, please)...
French Breakfast Puffs, Plum Kuchen, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Magic Cookie Bars, Sweet Buttermilk Cornbread, and Maple Cinnamon Swirl Scones.
Get thee to the market!
Chocolate Chip Scones with a Coffee Glaze, Turtle Brownies (back by popular demand), French Breakfast Puffs, Oatmeal Scotchies, and Brown Butter Peach Crumb Cake Bars. Yessssss.
Sunday's menu! Lemon Bars are back for the win (since I've been asked more than once where the heck they are), Blueberry Scones with Vanilla Glaze, ubiquitous French Breakfast Puffs, Spiced Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Cookies, and Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake Squares (i.e. My Favorite Coffee Cake, named after my sister's preference).
I'm looking forward to it, I hope you are, too!
Even though the thought of turning on the oven is making me cringe...here is Sunday's menu: French Breakfast Puffs (both regular and stuffed with homemade Nutella), Banana Nut Bread, Zucchini Muffins, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies, (giant) Oatmeal Cookie Pies, and Cinnamon Chip Scones.
Every. Single. Time.
You think I would know better by now...
It's funny but also incredibly not funny.
Yeahhhhh, definitely had a slip and fall of my own last night. I've realized that the bathroom can be a scary place. This video is helping me realize I am not alone...anyway, please cross your fingers that I haven't completely jacked my back up. I'm too young to need a walker.
Menu for Sunday (Inshallah...):
Mixed Berry Oat Scones, Double Chocolate Chip Cookies, French Breakfast Puffs (minis will be plain and regular size will have a HOMEMADE NUTELLA FILLING YES), Salted Caramel Swirl Brownies, and slices of Strawberry Rhubarb Snacking Cake.
There was a stray cow at the market yesterday. But someone managed to wrangle it up.
And no, I didn't knock the Lemon Bars over, thank God.
I'm referring to two weeks ago when, like an utter dunce, I knocked over a whole plate of beautiful Lemon Bars. I was so mad at myself...but I've learned my lesson and will be more cautious this time around.
In addition to Lemon Bars, we'll have Cinnamon Chip Scones, small and large bags of Chocolate Chip Cookies, French Breakfast Puffs, and Chocolate Swirl Pound Cake slices. Time permitting, I'll try to make a Plum Kuchen but we'll see...if not, definitely next week.
Have a good rest of your week!
I'm so happy I know the days of the week! My education was indeed worth it.
Short and sweet: Come by on Sunday 10 am to 1 pm for CHRISTMAS IN JULY! I'll have some great Holiday Cookie and Fudge Assortments, jumbo Candy Cane Cupcakes, and more. Bambolina (DELICIOUS woodfired pizza out of Salem - try the funghi one) will be a special vendor at the market so come for pizza and stay for dessert!
Have a great weekend, everybody!
